Just like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel. Jer. 18:6b.

Master Potter,
May I be pliable in your hands
With a softened heart
That the person within me emerge
As you see best.
[Now, wait a minute. I know where this is going.
Surrender! Let go and let God! Let God what? I always say].
“Hush, child. You haven’t let me finish.
You are not in the hands of any angry god.
You are my hands in the world.
And like the scene from the movie, Ghost[1]

You are in my embrace as you turn the potter’s wheel.”

[1] Before actor Patrick Swayze as Sam Wheat is murdered, he and the love of his life, Molly Jensen, as played by Demi Moore, embrace while she is making pottery at the potter’s wheel.  It is an incredible, sensual vision of passion and love.
